Position: Project Commercial Manager / Managing Quantity Surveyor

Location: West London

Salary:£85,000 per annum

Package: Bonus up to 20%, £7K car allowance, fuel, pension, healthcare, subsistence package + more.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced commercial manager or managing quantity surveyor. Our client is an award-winning Tier-1 principal contractor, with an excellent reputation. They operate in a number of sectors but are predominantly known for their work in Civil Engineering, Rail & Infrastructure. They have recently secured a £100m contract, to be delivered under NEC option C, for a prestigious client in West London. We are acting on their behalf, to recruit a commercial lead for that project.

In addition to leading one of London's most interesting projects, this position also offers the successful application an excellent opportunity to progress their career toward senior management, with a forward-thinking, award-winning employer.


As Commercial Manager, you will report to the regional Commercial Director. You will have 3 direct reports, and the support of a full project team, including the Project Manager who you will work closely with. your duties will include;

  • Ensuring the commercial success of the project by effectively managing the following;
  • Mobilisation of your team
  • Forecasting
  • Procurement
  • Identification of risk & management of risk
  • Maximisation of profitability & cash flow
  • Cost & Value Reporting
  • Change Management
  • Minimising contractual disputes
  • Providing strong & visible commercial leadership
  • Taking the lead in client negotiations
  • Demanding a right-first-time approach
  • Bringing your team together, to collectively achieve success
  • Utilising the NEC option C contract to ensure commercial success


  • Must be degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or an accredited RICS course
  • Must have strong understanding of NEC option C
  • Must have relevant experience (Civil Engineering or Rail or Infrastructure)
  • Must have worked for contractors in the past (not all client side or consultancy)
  • Must have led projects over £20m in value - should have led projects over £50m in value
  • Must live within easy commutable distance to West London
  • Must be able to start within 8 weeks (max 12).
