Managing Quantity Surveyor Midlands Civil Engineering

Unite People Civils is working with a highly reputable civil engineering contractor to recruit a Managing Quantity Surveyor. Infrastructure projects secured vary from £10m to £100m in value. The Managing Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for between 1 to 3 projects concurrently dependent on size and complexity, with approximately 6 direct reports. The role will be hybrid, with the successful candidate expected to work remotely, visit projects and attend meetings in head office.

The Opportunity

You will be responsible for the successful commercial delivery of projects within your remit. Ensuring robust measures are controlled, in order to achieve commercial margin and protect the business from commercial risk. This role will give the opportunity to work on major and notable schemes.

Day to day

  • Commercial engagement of projects at tender, pre-contract and pre-site stages
  • Sound knowledge of supply chain, T&C's and programme implications
  • Managing and leading commercial teams on projects
  • Monthly cost reporting to senior management
  • Sound knowledge of contract conditions and impact on supply chain and up-stream to clients
  • Close liaison and collaborative team work with the project team
  • Attend meetings with supply chain and internal teams

You

  • A relevant qualification in the Construction/ Civil Engineering industry
  • Demonstrable working knowledge as a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager
  • Civil Engineering project experience
