My Client is looking for a Site/Setting out Engineer to joint he business on a permanent basis. Head office is based in the Greater Manchester area and you would be expected to cover the north west region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan weekly activity with the Site Manager
  • Organise sections of the site team daily to deliver programme requirements or the whole site team in the Site Manager's absence
  • Co-ordinate the activities of particular sub-contractors/trades to ensure work is carried out efficiently
  • Monitor the quality of work carried out and address any issues
  • Resolve problems when requested by the Site Manager
  • Ensure health safety and environmental legislation and company procedures are followed onsite at all times
  • Assist the Site Manager to ensure all programmes, plans, method statements and risk assessments are up to date, understood and adhered to by all the necessary people relating to specific work packages
  • Promote high standards of work completion across the site
  • Keep up to date and complete site records in line with company and legislative requirement s as directed e.g. project information id uploaded to Fusion, all variations are managed using the project communication sheets and all items received on site are receipted
  • Communicate with clients and third parties in Galliford Try's best interests at all times
  • Set role model and ensure high standards of personal conduct on site at all times
  • Identify potential issues with successful project delivery. Discuss with line manager and agree solutions
  • Ensure that all daily checks Quality Assurance checks relating to sub-contractors are carried out in accordanceith company guidelines
  • Experience and Qualifications:
  • Applicants must have significant experience of working on design and build projects, for a main contractor.
  • Applicants must have experience of dealing with all aspects of the build process; the applicant will be required to coordinate the packages from the design and procurement phase through to installation on site and handover.
  • Trade experience and site experience preferable
  • Up to date knowledge of health and safety obligations and building legislation


  • CSCS Card
  • Valid SMSTS certificate
  • Valid First Aid at Work certificate


  • NVQ Level 3-4, BTEC diploma in Building Construction or similar
  • Valid Scaffold Appreciation certificate
  • Valid LOLER certificate
  • Qualified to the required CIOB Grade applicable at the time in accordance with Group policy
  • Applicants must be computer literate, especially in MS Word, and it would be desirable to have a good working knowledge of MS Excel, Asta Teamplan or Power Project
