The Employer

The employer is an award-winning top-10 UK main contractor / developer, with a turnover in excess of £1bn per annum. The employer has an enviable reputation as a market-leader, an innovator and an employer of choice. They are now in the fortunate position of having a number of major super-prime developments under construction in London, and are seeking an experienced project manager to lead the project team on one of these schemes.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Project Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery of the following development, over 7 construction phases;

  • Construction of 1300 prime-residential units, across 7 main blocks, ranging from 4 to 18 storeys
  • A significant amount of commercial office space
  • A significant amount of retail space
  • Leisure complex
  • Underground car park
  • Refurbishment to Grade II listed structures
  • Large areas of high-quality public realm
  • Successful completion of the development, planned for 2027

The Project Manager will report to the Construction Director, who is also site-based. The Construction Director will work closely with you, providing constant support and mentorship. The Construction Director will be client-facing, and stakeholder-facing, enabling you to focus on operational delivery.

You will have a total of around 7 direct reports, who you will work closely with to communicate the forward-project-plan in order to achieve smooth delivery. These will be;

  • Structures/Externals PM
  • Fitout/Internals PM
  • MEP PM
  • Block Managers
  • HSEQ Manager
  • Planning Manager
  • QA Manager

Requirements

  • Must be College or degree educated in an Engineering or Construction related subject
  • Must be from an Engineering / Site Engineering background
  • Must have at least 5-10 years experience working for a Tier-1 main contractor or developer
  • Must have experience overseeing the full project lifecycle i.e. Groundworks, RC Frame, Envelope, Fitout, M&E, Externals.
  • Must have excellent planning, organisational & communication skills
  • Should have experience of leading a similar project as a Project Manager
  • Should be ambitious & keen to progress within the organisation
  • Should have an interest in developing graduates, trainees & junior team members
  • Should live in London or within easy commutable distance
  • Should be able to start in August/September/October 2020
