An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Manager. Our client is an industry-leader, specialising in Industrial, Commercial and Residential developments and are renowned for their excellent quality of work. They are seeking to employ an experienced Design Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

Design Manager:

This roll involves leading the design process from inception through to completion on a large construction projects across the Midlands. This role would require the successful candidate to be project and office based. When situated at headquarters in Northamptonshire, you will enjoy a fantastic working environment in purpose-built offices with parking.

You should be an experienced Design Manager, with a background in Construction. You should have a reputable track-record working for main contractors, sub-contractors or specialist contractors.

You should have a good eye for detail, be commercially aware, be innovative and forward-thinking.

Requirements:

  • Co-ordinate and manage the input from consultants and specialist sub-contractors engendering collaboration at the interface between the Contractor and the designers.
  • Lead the implementation of the design process.
  • Establish and promote best practice in health, safety, sustainability, cost, time, constructability and appropriate quality matters.
  • Collate and promote strategic advice and knowledge associated with the designer's processes and design management best practice.
  • Provide operational, strategic, contractual and technical advice and support to bid preparation and project management.
  • Promote business process for design management by contributing to / delivering training for managing design delivery and on company design management procedures / guidance.
  • Promote use of engineering expertise and advice to add value to the process of design development.
  • Manage delivery of guidance and service support to bid and project meetings to contribute a clear view for delivering design management.
  • Prepare, maintain and communicate design commissioning, commercial and delivery records.
  • Promote business in design and construct by personal contact with employers and stakeholders, demonstrating high levels of commitment to their requirements.
  • Keep management informed of divisional design management activity and progress achieved.
  • Actively investigate emerging new techniques and technologies in design management and advise on suitable application within the division.
  • Perform peer review of technical proposals.
  • Take a personal interest in identifying, coaching and developing key staff.

You will be highly motivated and well organised demonstrating a high level of computer literacy and technical construction knowledge. This role will suit someone from an architectural, engineering, Design background with experience working for a main contractor.
