Unite People are working in partnership with a national, tier one construction contractor to recruit an Assistant Design Manager for their team in West Yorkshire.

With development and progression on offer; the company are looking to grow their design team with a candidate having experience of being an Assistant Design Manager, Design Coordinator or be an Architect looking for a more in career direction.

Working alongside the Design Management team; you will focus on the design and successful delivery of multistorey accommodation new builds, with projects ranging from £30 - £75m in value.

Key Duties:

  • Ensure accurate and on time design information.
  • Ensure cost effective design control and buildability.
  • Review design information to ensure suitability and practical for use.
  • Ensure design information complies with clients requirements.
  • Review and check contract documentation warranties and bond requirements.
  • Ensure all necessary consultants are appointed on time.
  • Monitor and update design quality plan.
  • Monitor and issue design information to production teams.
  • Give feedback on design issues post contract and complete consultant/designer performance reports.
  • Assist with material scheduling.
  • Provide technical support to the site teams

Skills, experience and desirables:

  • Strong design experience within construction, or a project management role.
  • An architectural/ design or project management background within construction.
  • Experience within a similar role, working on multistory accommodation above 10 storeys.
  • Previous leadership experience in the construction industry, along with a degree in a construction environment
  • Ability to supervise and lead projects
  • Excellent communications
  • Team player, able to deal with staff at all levels and collaborate

This is a permanent role, working on the design and production of both Student Accommodation building and high-rise Rental Apartments in the West Yorkshire area. Higher salary bandings can be achieved when demonstrating relevant experience and industry/ project knowledge.
