We aim to help contribute to the development of the Construction Industry by connecting top talent with innovative businesses. We do this by comprehensively understanding the people, companies and markets we engage with.
We recognise, hard work, consistent performance and progressive attitudes which all help form the foundations of Unite People creating the platform for growth.
We want to give back to our people by incentivising and rewarding performance. Each year, top performers/team’s access our Annual Summit and Quarterly 'Camps' (previously called Executive Club), which is an elite gathering held on a quarterly basis. The idea is to invigorate a level of healthy competition between peers, bettering one’s personal performances as well as stimulate teamwork across the business.
The Incentive is released on the first working day of each Quarter and will take place the last week of each quarter and ranges from away days UK wide to dining at some of London’s finest restaurant, to Comedy shows and in some cases overseas excursion.
Our core value ‘Put People First’ not only applies to our candidates and clients, but our employees too. As a result, we have created an industry-leading Training Academy to develop our recruiters and enable them to unlock their full potential.
What does the Training Academy look like?
Our ‘Bridge to Success’ requires prospective recruiters to pass both Academy (two weeks) and Probation (three months).
The Training Academy includes modules on the following:
UK Civil Engineering Market
Brief History of Civil Engineering
Unite People’s Verticals
UK Recruitment Market
The specific and vital role of recruitment in Civil Engineering
What effect has Covid had on the market?
What makes a good Sales Professional? (SAW – Sales Advancement Wheel)
The Training Academy encourages resilience, with role-play tasks to boost confidence and prepare new recruiters for sales situations. This practical coaching, together with the Academy’s training on internal compliance and systems, providing an integral foundation for newcomers to the company.
When asked to review the Academy, our Marketing Assistant was particularly impressed by the time invested into new starters – especially by CEO Ross Bayston – ensuring that new recruiters were brought up to speed on the industry, and that everyone developed strong working relationships from their very first week with the UPL.
We hold two annual conferences, the Winter Conference will always be held in Leeds, our HQ. The Summer Conference will take place elsewhere at a relaxed destination, for example at the coast or in the countryside.
At each event, our employees are kept informed on wider business progress, and we collectively celebrate both team and individual progresses. Following the conference is an exclusive party where all involved can let their hair down and enjoy the Unite hospitality – as ever, we work hard, and we play hard!
