AUTUMN NEWSLETTER 2018
Hello October!

Welcome to our 2018 Autumn Newsletter.
As we reflect on another successful period of trading at Unite People Ltd, we’d like to thank all of our candidates, clients and team for your continued support & custom.

Uncertainty over Brexit has overshadowed a robust performance by the construction industry so-far in 2018. There’s  lots to celebrate in the industry at the moment, with some fantastic job opportunities available for those considering a move. Our clients project-pipelines remain strong, and the governments commitment to continue investing in infrastructure is encouraging. So we enter the final quarter of the year feeling confident, looking forward to helping more technical, managerial & commercial professionals advance their careers & find new jobs.

Read on to see what we’ve been up to…
BLOG- HOW COULD A NO-DEAL SCENARIO AFFECT THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY?

Tory infighting, cabinet reshuffles and deals at Chequers are still being thrashed out, but time is running out.  Although a no-deal scenario is the doomsday scenario that all parties are hoping to avoid, Trade secretary Liam Fox was recently quoted as “seeing a no-deal Brexit as a 60-40 chance”.  A no-deal scenario with its awkward implications is now no longer something that can be dismissed.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Angelo Delicompagni, joined the Unite Team on a week’s work experience last month and received some wonderful feedback from everyone, including the McGinley Logistics team, at 250 City Road. Angelo joined the logistics team on site for a day, and when asked, he said it was “A great experience seeing how a massive 42-storey building is built and meeting the team that makes it happen. George was the Logistics Manager, he made me feel very welcome and taught me a lot about how a site is run. The best part was when we went to the top, 42-storey’s up!” Congratulations Angelo, you were an asset to our team and we wish you all the best with your future endeavours!

HOW CAN DEVELOPERS CAPITALISE ON 'BUILD TO RENT'?

The Private Rented Sector (PRS) or Build to Rent sector in the UK has grown substantially in recent years and accounts for approximately 16.5% of all UK households.  It is clear that PRS is here to stay and will grow significantly over the next few years. How can developers capitalise on this opportunity? What are the key issues you need to be aware of?

Principal Residential Consultant, Hannah Walker, discusses the different issues associated with Private Rented Sector (PRS) and Build-to-Rent housing here
