Welcome to our very first newsletter since Unite People entered the market as a new business at the start of 2017!
It is fair to say that our first ten months have been an unqualified success.
Our exponential growth and unprecedented activity has allowed Unite People to grow from an idea that was originally conceived over a beer to a fully-fledged business, partnering with some of the industry's largest and most influential contractors.
Looking back over the last ten months, watching our business flourish, we truly believe that we are on the road to creating something very special.
Today, Unite People operate out of offices in London and Leeds, with a fully integrated Central Services Team providing a solid infrastructure to support our rapid growth strategy.
With a newly designed and unique corporate website
plus a plethora of marketing and advertising activities planned for the rest of the year, we have set our sights on developing into one of the industry’s foremost thought leaders.
This is just the start of our journey … and if the last ten months are anything to go by, we can't wait to see what the next ten will offer us. Thank you all for your support to date!
Ross Bayston | Director
CANDIDATE OF THE QUARTER
At Unite People, we are passionate about recognising and rewarding our candidates for their hard work, dedication and for going that extra mile. This quarter's recipient is George, who recently took the step up to Site Management. The role offers a natural fit for George who has since received high praise for his close attention to detail and excellent health & safety standards. His efforts were also recognised by Berkeley Homes, as he recently won the 'Site Manager of the Month' award.
Thank you George for you all your hard work and we look forward to a long and successful collaboration.
EMPLOYEE CORNER - JODIE WILLIS
Jodie joined the team about five months ago as our Business Support Manager.
When interviewed about her role & personal experiences since joining, she expressed her love for her new role and how she has been able to quickly settle in with help and support from all levels.
“Quite honestly, I have loved the role since the first day! I enjoy being part of a business where new and most importantly ‘my’ ideas are always welcome. I am also encouraged to participate in additional projects that interest me and I’m always involved in one-to-one training sessions to help strengthen my skills set.
According to Jodie, “Unite People have a solid team ethic within the office, which is extended to our candidates and clients alike. The Directors take a unique and fresh approach when it comes to recruitment. They acquire candidates and employees not just by looking at experience on a CV, but through taking the time to get to know and understand each individual and each business.
It’s certainly been an exciting journey thusfar, working with the team to help Unite People rapidly grow into a successful business. If the past five months is anything to go by, I can’t wait to see what the next five years will bring!”
GLOBAL RECRUITER AWARDS
We were delighted to attend The Global Recruiter Industry Awards in August at the Cafe de Paris in Leicester Square, for a chance celebrate the very 'best of the best' in recruitment!
While recognising great performance within the recruitment sector, the awards also offered a chance to network with current partners, potential partners and explore new opportunities!
Watch this space as we're confident we'll be in a strong position to finish on that podium next year!
ROYAL ASCOT RACEDAY
A fantastic day was had by all as we visited Ascot with some of our clients earlier in the quarter.
Huge thanks to everyone who attended ... we can't wait for next year's reunion!
SECTOR SPOTLIGHT - CIVIL ENGINEERING
This month we focus on the U.K. Government's efforts to improve the national road network. Pledging a forecasted spend of £15bn by 2020 within their Roads Investment Strategy, Highways England have created the Collaborative Delivery Framework (CDF) which will attribute to £5bn worth of spend by the end of 2017.
Unite People recognise the importance of investing in our infrastructure and therefore target sectors that will have a direct impact upon our community. We aim to partner with Government initiatives such as the RIS strategy and the CDF to improve the UK’s infrastructure by supplying the industry’s best people to deliver these schemes.
We are actively engaged in a diverse portfolio of projects within the Highways sector including; The Smart Motorway upgrades, individual capital projects, regionalised frameworks, repair & maintenance, local authority and infrastructure surrounding new developments.

FEATURED BLOG - SMART MOTORWAYS
With more cars on the road and less places to squeeze new routes, congestion is becoming a serious issue in the UK. With congestion costing an estimated £2billion per annum (with 25% of these costs attributed to incidents arising from congestion) a solution has been decided upon, with Highways England introducing the motorway to the digital age via “smart motorways”... LOOKING TO THE FUTURE ...
Looking ahead, we have several irons in the fire for 2018.
To consolidate 2017's successes including our REC (Recruitment & Employment Confederation) accreditation, we have begun the process of establishing our ISO and Achilles accreditations. This will allow us to provide a wider range of opportunities to our candidates at a faster rate, whilst assuring our clients of the high standards of procedure that we adhere to at Unite People.
2018 will also see the Unite People team growing, with two outstanding recruits already secured for our Leeds and London offices, and with many more to come, we will be able to further establish our presence within our specialist sectors.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg... campaigning for 'Women in Construction', organising our own Three Peaks Challenge and continuing our incredible 2017 growth to name but a few objectives, 2018 is already shaping up to be a promising year.
